Hand forged colonial flint striker, fire starter, flint and steel, fire steel, survival tool.

$15.00
This is a hand forged replica of a colonial pattern fire steel. It is a simple, fully functional design that is completely flat and would fit well in a pocket or wallet, but is still large enough for a good grip and long lifespan. It is composed of hardened high carbon steel and finished with linseed oil. I test each striker I make to be sure it sparks well and I would be comfortable carrying this in my own survival kit.

Many cultures used flint strikers like this to start their fires for hundreds of years. Using a piece of flint and a bit a charred cloth or wood to catch the spark, you can reliably start fires with just a little bit of practice.
